This 11p stamp issued in October 26th, 1978 is one of a set of four celebrating the 50th anniversary of Irish coinage of 1928. In 1926 the newly formed Irish Free State government formed a coinage committee chaired by William Butler Yeats.

Seven denominations were designed and the first coins were struck and issued dated 1928. The stamp is accompanied by two ½ p stamps and are post dated 29th of the eight 1979. This is yellow green in colour and has a celtic dog design.
