About this item

This is MacDonagh’s third play and was first shown in April, 1915 by the Irish Theatre where it ran for six nights. The character John was played by his own brother John who was an actor and manager in the Irish Theatre at the time.

The play focused on John and his wife Frances, Mr and Mrs Fitzmaurice. The couple have been separated and come together to discuss the impossibility of them being together despite their love for one another.
