About this item

Thomas Stanislaus MacDonagh (1 February – 3 May 1916) was Commandant of the 2nd Battalion of the Dublin Brigade of the Irish Volunteers. He played a prominent role in the 1916 Easter Rising and was one of seven signatories of the Irish Proclamation. He faced arrest in the aftermath of the Easter Rising and was sentenced to be shot. He was executed by firing squad on 3 May 1916.
