Pagri (Pugaree) badge of the Royal Irish Regiment. The badge combines an Irish harp emblem with the Imperial Crown and the legend ‘Royal Irish’.

The 3rd (Reserve) Batallion were among the first British Army troops to engage with the rebels during the 1916 Easter Rising. It’s members were raised largely in Ireland and their home depot was based in Clonmel.

The Regiment was one of five regiments which were disbanded in 1922 on the formation of the Irish Free State.
