Analogue Camera

Story about this item

This is the first ‘proper’ camera that I bought at 16 years of age. I paid about £125 for it at the time. Most cameras at that time relied on a battery whereas this was fully manual. It was a simple but tough camera. I used it all the way through college. I’ve given away most of my other camera bits from the time but I’ve kept this, for sentimental reasons. I’m drawn to photography as I love shape, texture and the whole mechanical process. It’s an abstract way of looking at things. My favourite items to photograph would be flowers, especially Irish wildflowers. I love detail and close-ups. My favourite photography would be ‘out of focus’. I see photography as a way of holding up a mirror to ourselves. It’s a distinct perspective on on our own and my relationship with the world around us.
