Antique Tobacco Cutter

Story about this item

My grandparents Con and Sarah Kennedy opened what is now Grace’s Pub in Cloughjordan. This Antique Tobacco Cutter was kept in the family pub and used to dispense tobacco to the customers for their pipes. Back in the day, tobacco for pipes came in a solid bar and needed to be cut. The cutter was there in my mother’s time when she inherited the pub. My mother was Maggie Kennedy and she married Martin Grace. My mother was one of eight girls, four became nuns and the other four stayed locally. Local historian Roche Williams’ mother Ellie Kennedy, was one of the sisters, so Roche and I were first cousins.
