Ball used in National Hurling League Final 1979

Story about this item

On 6 May 1979, Tipperary won the National Hurling League title. The match score from the final between Tipperary and Galway was 3-15 to 0-8. A sliotar used on the day was painted in the blue and gold Tipperary colours with the match score painted in white. The League is an annual hurling competition for the GAA county teams and this final was played in the Gaelic grounds in Limerick. I was on the team, alongside Eamon O’Shea, Jim Williams, Frances Loughnane, Tadhg O’Connor (all from Kilruane MacDonaghs). The ball was painted by John McCarthy from Coolnamon.
