TITLE

Fretwork Gothic Shrine with Drill and Hammer

Story about this item

My father made this fretwork gothic shrine when he was about 13 years old. He made it in woodwork class, using a fretwork saw to cut out the design from a pattern. It’s made of varnished plywood. We keep the drill and hammer inside the shrine, they were part of his tool kit. My father Hugh Brady was born in 1936, (his father was also called Hugh Brady). It’s marked Aodh O Bradaigh, made 1949- 1950. My father went on to be an architect, graduating from UCD.
