I don’t have a lot of info on my grandfather’s Abacus. It’s a unique object and has been in the family for a long time. My grandfather Robert Guest was the last person I know who used it. He was a farmer and a craftsman and he used it when he was drawing up measurements. He lived in Gortavalla, 3km from Cloughjordan and attended the Methodist National School on the Shinrone Road out of Cloughjordan. We think the abacus came from the school when it closed.
