Culture Night at Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School 2024

Join us for Culture Night on Friday 20 September for the launch of an exciting new art exhibition titled “The Irish Review – Creative Responses” curated byMelissa Ryan for the North Tipperary Artists’ Collective as part of the Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School 2024.

Twenty professional and amateur artists have drawn inspiration from The Irish Review magazines published between 1911-1914 in the Museum’s collection. The artists have visually interpreted the words of writers in The Irish Review from the page into contemporary artworks in a unique collaborative collection.

This exhibition will be inclusive of an array of mixed media, including oils, acrylics, water colours and textiles. The exhibition will run until November. The artwork will be for sale and the museum will not take any commission.

Culture Night also includes readings from the work developed in the Hedge School’s Creative Writing Workshop held on 18 & 19 September, also in response to The Irish Review material in the Collection.
